What’s on in Lagos
Parties and nightlife
Afrobeats, amapiano and hip-hop nights run late on the Island and in Lekki. Many clubs only fill up after midnight, so check the listing for when the night really starts.
Day parties and beach days
Sunday belongs to day parties, brunches and beach days along the Lekki coast. Bring sunscreen and some cash or a transfer-ready app for small vendors.
Live music and concerts
From intimate live sessions to arena shows. The biggest concerts of the year land in December, and they sell out early.
Owambes, culture and art
Lagos parties come in aso ebi too. Add festivals, art shows, comedy, food pop-ups and game nights, and there’s something on every day of the week.
When to go
Every weekend has something on, but the calendar peaks in December, when Detty December brings the year’s biggest concerts and parties and people fly home for the holidays. Easter and public holidays get busy too, and the best tickets go early.
Getting around
- Traffic decides your night. Third Mainland Bridge, the Lekki–Epe Expressway and the roads around Victoria Island jam on Friday evenings. Leave early, or plan to arrive late.
- Ride-hailing works across the city. Prices climb late at night and through December, so check the fare before you leave the venue.
- Stay on one side. Island to Mainland can take an hour or more at peak times, so plan nights around one area.
- Sort your way home first. Agree on rides with your group before you head out and keep your phone charged.
